eircom, Next Generation Broadband Microsite

In March of this year, eircom launched its new broadband proposition: Next Generation Broadband. Next Generation Broadband, or NGB, runs on a new next generation network and offers customers faster speeds and no congestion broadband at all times. The introduction of NGB represents a particular innovation for eircom and demonstrates its commitment to upgrade the quality of broadband services offered to its customers. As CEO, Paul Donovan, described it at the launch, “Customers will have a high performance experience, receiving their own dedicated 'online lane' on the country's new digital motorway.” The new network represents part of a one billion euro investment by eircom over a three year period in its infrastructure and eircom views this very high capacity, all IP network as a key foundation for Ireland's future economic growth.

Several month’s prior to launch, Image Now were engaged to design a microsite specific to the NGB product which would be the call to action in all advertising collateral. eircom was conscious that this new usage-based product, with an 18 month rollout, would be a complex message for existing and new customers to understand and so determined to develop a bespoke microsite to house primary product information. Key sections to be included were a description of the NGB product itself, its benefits, rollout plans and an explanation of usage based pricing. The brief was to create an innovative and modern site that would reflect the nature of the product.

Image Now’s design solution is a sophisticated and impressive site which delivered above and beyond the original criteria. Interactivity was introduced with a slider function that allows the user to navigate from section to section by dragging the slider button at the middle of the screen. This gives the microsite the structure of a 3D plane that the user rotates in order to access the different sections. Key features of the site include a downloadable usage metre and an interactive coverage map indicating the progressive rollout across the country. This section also allows existing customers to enter their account information to check if they have been migrated to NGB.

The website is designed using 3D software which is in keeping with the sophistication of the product and delivers the innovative and modern look and feel that eircom sought to achieve. Subsequent to the design of the website, eircom commissioned Image Now to design internal comms material for the launch along with retail packaging. This included wall vinyls, posters and pull-up stands. The innovative design solution developed for the NGB microsite, internal comms and retail packaging was so successful that Image Now was further engaged to develop an outdoor and press advertising campaign for NGB. www.ngb.ie
