TypeSet was an exhibition of contemporary Irish type and typographic design, developed as part of OFFSET 2016. The initial request was to create a poster exhibition, but through close collaboration with the OFFSET project and production teams we were able to create a large-scale projection based exhibit. This better reflected the skill-set and output of the studio, and allowed us to open up the exhibit to a wider group of designers.
The initial brief focused on technical limitations (aspect ratio, maximum pixel size and file size) with the theme being simply “type” – created, commissioned or used by Irish designers.
The exhibition included 36 pieces from Irish designers both at home and abroad – AAD / Aoife Mooney / Atelier David Smith / Bielke & Yang (Evan McGuinness) / Bobby Tannam / Clare Bell / Craig Cinnamon / Dave Darcy / Detail. Design Studio / Image Now / Indigo & Cloth / It’s Okay / James Cullen / James Delaney / John Paul Dowling / Kathryn Wilson (Slater Design) / Lara Hanlon (IBM Studios Dublin) / Liam Morrow / Love & Robots / Mark Hurrell / Oscar Torrans / Post / Ronan Devlin / Ronan Kelly / Rory Simms (Pentagram) / Salvage Press / Sharon Walsh (Edenspiekermann) / Signal Type / Stephen McCarthy / Tom Foley (Dalton Maag) / Unthink / WeMakeDesign / WorkGroup / Zero-G ■
